Well, I have to start this blog somewhere… so I might as well start it with introducing myself!
Why hello there! I’m Kate. I am a 24 year old licensed aesthetician and skin care specialist in Brandon, Manitoba. When I am not doing skin services on clients, or skin care consultations, you can usually find me doing lashes. I recently just gained my digital marketing diploma which is another passion of mine. I wanted to create this blog to go more in depth on skincare and beauty topics, and who knows.. maybe some other topics will spring up here and there, muahaha. As a digital marketer, I create content for my social media, as well as other small businesses. Social media is sooooo important, and it makes me sad when I see small business missing out opportunities because they aren’t utilizing their social media properly. So, thats where I come in!
As an aesthetician, (my main gig and my first passion) my job is simple. I educate clients on their skin, help them make skin choices, perform facial services, mani and pedis (don’t ask me to do gel nails, I SUCK at them, lol), lashes, brows, you name it. Currently as I am writing this, I am not able to perform services due to Code Red in Manitoba (gotta love this pandemic) but I am hoping soon us aestheticians will get some good news and be able to start taking clients again!
More about me outside of work (I have a personal life, too lol)
I feel weird writing about my personal life, mainly because my work life and personal life feel so intertwined. I have such a hard time shutting my brain off from “work-mode”. A majority of my day currently during the pandemic is waking up at 11 AM, playing Nintendo Switch (animal crossing all day babyyyyy), taking photos and creating content for myself and other small businesses, editing photos, writing captions, answering DM’s and doing virtual skin care consultations, waiting for my BF to come home from work, then playing Yahtzee, attempting home workouts (i miss the gym, lol) and staying up until 1 AM watching tv, then I start it all over again. My routine is sooo out of whack, but I think thats the reality of this pandemic, lol.
I am OBSESSED with dogs, all dogs. I’m sorry, but if you don’t like dogs, I don’t think we can be friends :(. The apartment I live in right now is NOT pet friendly (so stupid) so unfortunately I do not have my own puppy yet, but the second we are out of this place, we are getting a miniature long haired dachshund. At my parents house, I have a family golden retriever named “Storm”, and not to be dramatic but I would die for her. She’s the sweetest soul.
I LOVE shopping.
Especially since the pandemic has taken over, online shopping has been my addiction. Clothes, home decor, pampas grass, all things boho chic and that fit within my aesthetic… I want it. A few of my fave shops rn are:
- Aritzia (They always have stable pieces for any wardrobe and are such good quality)
- Zara (Zara is similar to Aritzia, as a fraction of the cost)
- Golden August (The cutest online shop with the most beautiful dried floral arrangements)
- Steve Madden (I get all my masks here and I swear by them, they are soon comfy and form fitting to the face)
- Anthropology & Urban Outfitters (K, but like they have the cutest little home decor pieces and accessories)
- Vanish Skin Clinic (I may be biased because I work here, but we carry title everything to meet your beauty and skin needs).
