I swear, celeb skincare lines are the new celeb fragrances. Its all about putting their name on something to make money. They don’t care about you the way your esthetician does.
Alright, I’m just going to say it. Stop buying celeb skincare lines. I am so tired of celebs making skincare lines just because they can. They have the money, they have the loyal fans, and they are using that privilege to enter a space that they have no knowledge or education in. I am talking about Rihanna, J-Lo, Kylie, and all the other celebs that put their name on a bottle to capitalize on it.
Kylie claims she uses all her skin products to give her that flawless glow, but in reality, she is spending THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars on treatments and surgeries to give her that look. It is so misleading, and younger fans will look at her and think by using the products she CLAIMS she is, they can achieve the same look. Lets talk about J-LO next. I get it, she is STUNNING and looks amazing. But are we going to talk about all the treatments, botox, and filler she has received over the years? There was also an interview that came out where J-LO claimed that all she uses on her skin is olive oil (CRINGE) and sunscreen, but when you look on her skincare site, theres far more on that site than just olive oil and sunscreen. Thats just SHADY if you ask me….Just because she put her name on a skincare line does not mean those products are going to help you achieve the look she has. I think its so misleading and so wrong ugh 😦
People are drawn to celeb skincare lines because of the name, NOT BECAUSE OF THE SCIENCE AND INGREDIENTS BEHIND THEM!!
Heres another HUGE reason why I don’t recommend buying celeb skincare lines. THIS IS JUST A SIDE GIG FOR THEM! Its extra money in their already overfilled bank account. How is that fair to the small business owners that are estheticians that spend YEARS studying the skin, bringing in the top of the line MEDICAL grade products that are proven to work for the skin and giving clients REALISTIC expectations on how to achieve healthy skin? For estheticians, skincare isn’t a side gig, its their whole career. Wouldn’t you rather spend your hard earned money with a business/esthetician that actually cares about you as an individual? Who creates a skin plan specially for you? Wouldn’t you rather get your skin tips from someone LICENSED? No hate to Kylie, but if she came out with a new antibiotic to cure an illness that had her name on it, would you trust it? Or would you trust your local doctor who knows you, and who cares about YOU, not just your money.
Lets simplify it:
- -Celebs who create a skincare line do not have the qualitiations to do so.
- -Its just a side gig for celebs, and a way to make extra money. They don’t care about the consumer, they care about the money. (This sounds harsh but its true haha)
Not that a celeb will ever read this, but here is my message to the next celeb who is planning to put their name on skincare to sell: please stop. From every licensed skincare specialist in the world, its insulting. We spend YEARS studying the skin, building lasting relationships with our clients, and creating REALISTIC ways to achieve healthy skin. We might not have the following you have, but we have the KNOWLEDGE to know what to recommend, what ingredients are the ones to look for, and the education to back us up.
I know it can be so tempting to purchase something from a celeb skincare line, but next time you’re considering it, think of your local estie who actually CARES about your skin, who has invested everything they have into their knowledge and education on the skin, and who is going to bring you the best skincare line up possible using products that will give real results, without UNREALISTIC expectations. Your business means EVERYTHING to us. You are how we make a living for ourselves, while we provide you and your skin with the best of the best. Stop overpaying for a name ❤
Until next time,
Your fave local estie ❤
